Care for your awning

We show you the best care for your awning

We show you which are the best cares for your awning, since in Spain, with the rise of temperatures and the arrival of summer, the sun becomes a determining factor. It is important to take measures to protect ourselves from UV rays at this time of the year.

The awnings are deployed on the facades of buildings, windows, terraces or balconies and protect us from high temperatures. Our tarpaulins, manufactured by the renowned company Sauleda, have a high solar protection. The canvas placed anywhere in our home, whether awnings, curtains, screens, etc … protects the whole family from ultraviolet rays, this is because the canvas disperses and absorbs the rays preventing direct contact with the skin.

How to care for an awning cover?

Our awnings are very easy to maintain thanks to the performance of our fabrics, have maximum resistance to environmental pollution and a great anti-stain system, all of which creates a barrier that retards the adhesion of dirt and repels water.

Although our tarpaulins have quality certificates and the best performance, it is always necessary to follow some care and maintenance to keep the tarpaulins with its splendor as long as possible.

Here are some tips to keep in mind for the care of your awning:

Cleaning

  • In the event that a stain has appeared, we recommend treating it as soon as possible, it can be cleaned with neutral soap and sponge, rinsing at a maximum temperature of 30ºC.
  •

  • To clean the metal part of the awning, do not use tools such as scouring pads or anything similar, as this may scratch the surface. We recommend the use of damp cloths for cleaning.
  •

  • It is very important not to use any type of abrasive product for cleaning or maintenance.
  •

  • In the winter months, we recommend storing the awning in a cover, this will keep both its structure and the canvas in perfect condition for next year’s summer season.

Maintenance

  • If your awning does not have an automatic retraction mechanism, we recommend that it be retracted when it is not in use to prevent it from getting wet or being damaged by the wind.
  •

  • Vacuum dirt periodically to prevent accumulation of dust or debris inside the awning.
  •

  • In the event that the awning or tarpaulin is wet, it is very important that it is not picked up or folded until it is completely dry, as this may cause mildew and deterioration of the tarpaulin.
  •

  • If the awning gets wet when unfolded, we recommend that it is as taut as possible to avoid the accumulation of water pockets inside the canvas, as these pockets can cause deterioration of both the anchorage due to the weight of the water and the canvas.
  •

  • If when closing your awning you notice that there is something obstructing its operation, do not force it, unfold it and check it.

How to care for an awning motor?

To help in the maintenance of a motorized awning, and to know how to take care of it, you must take into account the indications given above about the canvas, this will also help in the maintenance of the motor.

The main indication that should be taken into account is not to store the awning when it is wet or humid, since it can seriously damage its operation.

Another tip we give you from Bricotoldo is to take care of the remote control that operates the awning. This is usually left outdoors and is affected by weather conditions, this affects the operation of the control and therefore also the operation of the awning.

In case your awning motor is damaged or has any problem, do not hesitate to contact us. We will check the motor, detect the failure and proceed to repair it.
